A Lovely Day by Joshua Lee

I was woken up abruptly, “It’s time!” As we rushed out the door, I noticed how warm it was; the last few days had been cold and windy. It even snowed, which wasn’t typical for Virginia Beach; however, not this Veteran’s Day, no-no-no… The autumn leaves were majestically falling all around us, while we were embraced by the smell of morning dew and the warmth of the sunrise as champagne poured from the heavens. It was a glorious morning, the ambiance put me in a euphoric like state. Allie Wrubel might as well had been sitting next to me singing, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-A-Dee-Ay, my oh my, what a wonderful day! As animated blue jays danced and flew around the car. As we drove down the road, I was dancing to the beat of my own drum with a shit-eating grin on my face as it all came to a screeching halt… “Hey, Chippy! Can you hurry the fuck up!? I’m in labor here!” My wife always did ruin everything…
